Dr Alfred Vogel
Vogel'sŪ breakfast cereals follow the guiding principals of Dr Alfred Vogel, the famous Swiss naturopath and nutrition therapist. Born in 1902 near Basel, he became a highly respected nutritionist and a pioneer in the promotion of "healthy" foods as a means of protecting and maintaining health. He opened his first health food store at the age of 18 in 1920, and summed up his philosophy thus: "Preventative healthcare is the source of health and happiness. The decision to adopt a well-balanced diet containing natural foodstuffs and to heed the body's own signals must be taken of one's own free will."
In 1954 Dr Vogel's Healthy Grain Bread won a gold medal at the Swiss International Food Exhibition: today, cereal products conforming to his principles are being marketed around the world.
Vogel's® Breakfast Cereals
Vogel's® understand that a breakfast has to deliver on two scores to
do its job: a good balance of nutrients to get the body in shape for the
day, and the comfort of a great taste to make the day start well.
All Vogel's® breakfast cereals are naturally high in fibre and low
in fat. They all contain a unique nutrient blend that includes Hi-Maize®,
a natural corn starch that is high in prebiotic and resistant starch -
important for digestive fitness.
Also included are essential nutrients in which our modern diet may be
deficient: Folic Acid and Calcium, and the anti-oxidant Vitamin E. Each
serving of Vogel's® breakfast cereals provide at least 25% of the R.D.A
for Calcium, which is essential for maintaining healthy bones and strong
teeth, and 50% of the R.D.A. for Folic Acid, necessary for the production
and maintenance of new cell structures.
All Vogel's® breakfast cereals are suitable for vegetarians.
Vogel's® UltraBran
Vogel's® UltraBran is a very high fibre soya and malted wheat cereal
containing fibre from 4 sources, plus the added goodness of soya
isoflavones (phytoestrogens) and linseed. Linseed is a good source of Omega-3
and Omega-6
polyunsaturates.
Vogel's® UltraBran is a low Glycaemic Index food (GI = 41). Each serve
contains 15g of fibre, and just 0.12g of salt and 4.5g of sugars.
Vogel's® VitaPro
Vogel's® VitaPro is a gluten-free, protein-rich soya cereal with high
fibre and a delicious honey-roast flavour. . Each serving of Vogel's® VitaPro
provides 10g of soya protein - combined with a diet low in saturated fat,
25g of soya protein per day can help reduce blood cholesterol. Being wheat
and gluten-free, Vogel's® VitaPro is suitable for Coeliacs and others
who have difficulty digesting wheat- or gluten-based cereals.
Vogel's® VitaPro is a low Glycaemic Index food (GI = 52). Each serve
contains 11g of fibre, and just 0.12g of salt and 5g of sugars.
